    Supporting Norwich and Beyond Since 1964

    Norwich Samaritans has been a vital lifeline for people for over 60 years. Operating day or night, 365 days a year, a dedicated team of 180 volunteers give more than 20,000 hours annually to support those who are struggling to cope.

    In addition to our listening service completely free and confidential, we actively engage with the community by working in partnership with two local prisons and operating three charity shops across Norwich.

  • Norfolk and Waveney Mind

    Norfolk and Waveney Mind’s Suicide Bereavement Service offers support to those affected by suicide or suspected suicide through one to one support, group activities and drop in events across the county.

    We work closely with other bereavement agencies, Norfolk Coroner’s Office and other key partners to make sure no one has to navigate this type of complex grief alone.

    PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people. We do this in three ways: supporting those who are experiencing thoughts of suicide, equipping communities through suicide prevention training and awareness raising, and influencing government policy on a local and national scale. 

    At HOPELINE247 – PAPYRUS’s dedicated suicide prevention helpline – our trained advisers work on a safety plan with young people aged 35 and under who are experiencing thoughts of suicide, to help keep them safe for now. For more information about PAPYRUS’s services, visit the website below.

  • St. Martins

    St Martins is a well-established charity working in Norwich and Norfolk for over 50 years. They provide ‘more than a home for the homeless’ and focus on prevention, crisis and sustained support. Their prevention work includes supporting people in their own homes, providing support to help them to live independently and maintain their tenancies. Their crisis work includes outreach work, an emergency assessment and accommodation hub and a direct access hostel.

    St Martins has additional hostels, a sheltered housing scheme for the over 50’s, a Care Quality Commission registered residential home (rated outstanding) and a number of community based projects. There is also a learning and development centre offering a wide variety of programmes. At any one time St Martins supports in the region of 300 people with a staff team of 180.

    One-on-One Telephone Support:
    Personal, confidential conversations with a trained supporter to listen, provide guidance, and offer a comforting presence.

    Peer-to-Peer Monthly Group Meetings:
    Join others who share similar experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Taking place in: Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Harleston, Lowestoft

    Limited Counselling Support:
    Professional counselling to support emotional healing and well-being.

  • The Farming Community Network

    The FCN are a voluntary organisation & charity that supports farmers and families within the farming community. We run a confidential, national helpline and e-helpline and local volunteers provide free, confidential support to anyone who seeks help. FCN also runs a website called FarmWell, which provides information on mental and physical health, wellbeing, business resilience and planning ahead for those in the farming and rural sectors. Over 10,000 people a year benefit from FCN’s support and we can help with a variety of issues.
